Community acupuncture is a style of treatment that has been employed in China for many years. Individuals are seated in a room with other people where the needling is done. They sit with the needles in place for as long as it feels comfortable. Many people find that they go into a state of great relaxation and stay for an hour or more. Being in a room with other people undergoing this therapy has the advantage of each person experiencing the totality of healing energy occurring in the room. Family and friends can share the experience as well.

The treatment of many people at the same time allows the practitioner to charge less per treatment. This allows for people of many economic backgrounds to enjoy the benefit of acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture is a therapy and requires multiple treatments to be used most effectively. Many people use acupuncture for health maintenance. Low cost treatments facilitate the opportunity for use in these ways.

Public health has been Jill's life's work for many years. She believes that health care should be safe and affordable for all. Jill volunteered for several years as an acupuncturist with AHAC, a group of 'alternative' health care providers, to provide free treatment for homeless people.

In addition to her private practice, Jill runs the Community Acupuncture clinic at Seattle's Country Doctor Clinic. The clinic is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:45pm to 8:15pm, and Saturdays from 8:45am to 12:15pm. Table acupuncture is available Fridays from 9am to 4:30pm.
